The Senior geologist will drive the planning, implementation and overall supervision of various field activities and will also be responsible for organizing contractors, mentoring junior staff and ensuring that there are effective controls across the exploration activities.
The company is setting an innovative course for the discovery and sustainable growth of the mining industry.

Key accountabilities:

1. Exploration Programs:

• Coordinate the drilling and exploration program.
• Recommend and implement the validated drilling sequence, and ensure adherence to schedules and costs of supervised operations.
• Supervise and ensure adherence to the QA/QC procedures and ensure dispatch of samples to laboratories I orderly and timely manner
• Ensure proper database management securely. (laboratories results matching accurately samples dispatched from the field)
• Analyze and interpret all geological, geochemical, topographic, geophysical, mineralogical, etc., data, formulate working hypotheses based on results, and discuss findings with the Exploration Manager.
• Prepare maps, geological sections, drilling plans, topographic plans, geophysical plans, etc., and make them available to colleagues.

2. Interpretation and Consolidation:

• All technical field activities adhere to internal work procedures in compliance with standard criteria of the mining industry (NI 43-101).
• Control, validate, and interpret data acquired by oneself or by supervised exploration geologists, and report results and interpretations to the Exploration Manager within deadlines.
• Prepare interpreted geological sections with mineralized envelopes and any other technical documents for resource estimation and validation.
• 3D modelling of the deposits
• Perform any other geoscience-related activities requested by superiors.

3. Reports:

• Actively supervise the writing of weekly, monthly, and end-of-campaign reports.
• Participate in ministerial reports and budget session preparation.

4. Project Management:

• Ensure the development of plans, schedules, budgets, cost tracking, and writing of exploration technical reports for the Exploration Manager.
• Supervise all support operations (logistics, fuel and food supply, daily wage and payment, compensation payments for crop damages, etc.) and ensure cost monitoring, in interaction with the Exploration Manager.
• Manage and maintain exploration camp facilities and equipment.
• Monitor expenses.
• Organize communication with local populations to prevent activity shutdown.
• Verify and validate various archives (reports, core and chip archives, data) to be kept up to date in accordance with Exploration Manager requirements and EDV Standards.

5. Team Management:

• Foster teamwork by creating an atmosphere of trust and solidarity among colleagues.
• Assist and mentor junior or project exploration geologists, as well as technicians, in their daily tasks such as logging, sampling, mapping, etc.
• Ensure the best possible coordination between exploration, other departments, and contractors.
• Set annual objectives and carry out resulting evaluations according to Group procedures.
• Demonstrate transparency, teamwork, and cooperation.
• Ensure exemplary behavior towards colleagues, supervised individuals, and subcontractors.
The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and not necessarily all inclusive.

Education:
•Msc/Bsc in Geology
•Training in industry standard sampling and quality control (QAQC) procedures.
•Training in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL.
•Training in geographic information systems (GIS) software and 3D modelling like QGIS, Surpac, Geosoft + Target, ArcGIS, Leapfrog.


Experiences:
• At least 8-10 years’ experience working within Copper-gold mining / exploration industry
• Geologic field experience in mineral exploration
• Experience in the Nubian Shield will be a plus
• Strong experience in 3D modelling using Surpac or Leapfrog
• Training in mobile apps and hardware including GPS and external data collectors.
• Strong sense of commercial drivers and sound business acumen as well as strong communication, mentoring, training, and negotiation skills
• Must have been involved in the consolidation of a technical report.
• Good Understanding of the copper/Gold metallurgy and its complexity, and how it impacts the resources calculation and processing facilities.
• At least 3 years experience in 3D modelling.
• A team work attitude – must can develop and maintaining effective working relationships across a broad cross-section of the company’s exploration personnel, contractors, consultants, industry bodies, researchers and government agencies
• Broad understanding of mining, metallurgical, environmental, land access, community relations, commercial and country risk issues
• Sound understanding of multicultural environment, African cultures and business customs
• Fluency English (speaking and writing), Uzbek, Russian, Arabic is a plus.
