Summary:

This position is responsible for the implementation of project controls on KSU project in compliance with company policies and procedures.

Duties:

• Contributes to the systematic management of safety, health, environment, reliability, and efficiency to achieve world-class performance which is in support of the Company Operational Excellence strategy.
• Supports project management in creation, administration, and management of project cost control functions. Supports with the implementation, administration and maintenance of cost control systems and procedures to track and report project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts.
• Supports the development of project Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) as a basis for project budgeting and forecasting, to ensure recognition of cost and schedule changes and proper reflection of changes in cost reports.
• Supports to configure, maintain, and administer the cost control system and ensure effective interfaces between project cost control system and the Company accounting system.
• Supports the development of cost control reports in alignment with the work and cost breakdown structures, and invoicing that will allow cost trends to be monitored.
• Records and monitors commitments and projected spending and reconciles actual expenditures based on the accounting information on a monthly basis.
• Cooperates with other project functions to log new commitments, gather appropriate progress data to determine Value of Work Done (VoWD) and produce expenditure forecasts.
• Supports with monthly and year-end financial close outs.
• Liaises with project contractors to receive progress data and clarifications if any discrepancies and/or deviations in cost reporting are identified.
• Verifies invoices and supporting documents (timesheets, acts of acceptance, expense reports, etc.) for accurateness and completeness. Ensures invoices are submitted in accordance with the relevant contract terms and conditions. Supports with the resolution of issues with contractors when and if arise. Tracks the approval and payment status of invoices when required.
• Participates in change management process, supports with the management of variations and trends (e.g. deviations in contracts and estimates) and assessment of cost impact and incorporate into project forecast.
• Supports with the development of indicators and targets for Kazakhstani content reporting. Provides forecasts, monitor and report actual progress.
• Supports with cost updates in regular and ad hoc project reports.

Job Specification and requirements:

• Higher education (Economics, Accounting or Finance)
• Minimum 2 years of the relevant work experience
• Upper- Intermediate English level (fluent verbal and written)
• Confident user of Microsoft Office, advanced Excel skills
• Understanding of the relevant accounting principles, knowledge, and experience of project cost engineering (work and cost breakdown structures, commitments, budgeting, and forecasting, etc.)
• Good working knowledge of JDE E1, Ariba e-Procurement are preferred.
• Good communication skills.
