We’re recruiting a Chief Scientific Officer (PI) for a New York City-based Microbiology startup. This position is perfect for an accomplished researcher who wants to join an exciting microbiology startup and make a real difference with their research!

I. The selected applicant will play an active role in startup decision-making. This individual will also be responsible for designing and conducting experiments as well as helping hire and manage a team of scientists.

The first year of employment will mostly involve conducting wet and dry-lab microbiology experiments full-time while working on a US governmental grant. Further responsibilities will include hiring and managing a team of scientists, leading and designing experiments.

II. This position provides significant shares in the company. We want this key person to be fully invested in their work and personally benefit from the company’s success.

III. No current work authorization in the United States is required, but relocating within 2-3 months after being hired is required. The company will be responsible for sponsoring the visa and helping with the visa application and relocation procedures.

Company description: Uniphage, Inc. is developing bacteriophage-based bactericides and mycovirus-based fungicides. Uniphage aims to cure a range of infectious diseases in crops and humans and uses cutting-edge computational and wet-lab techniques to accomplish that. Uniphage receives extensive support from the leading US and international accelerators and has leaders in the field as its advisors.

Requirements:

I.

• PhD (Кандидатская / Докторская) in Biological Sciences or related discipline.

• Significant experience working in the bacteriophage, mycoviral, or synthetic biology field. We’re looking for a microbiology expert to lead most scientific efforts.

• Experience leading research teams in a post-doc or PI capacity.

• Experience managing lab expenses, designing experiments, and working independently.

• Experience with both wet-lab and dry-lab microbiology research.

• Experience publishing in peer-reviewed international journals.

• Full English Proficiency, which includes communicating primarily in English and writing scientific manuscripts.

• Desire to conduct extensive basic and translational research.

• Desire to be involved in the inner workings of the company.

• Ability to quickly adjust to the new environment and learn.

• Desire to work at a rapidly developing new startup and fully benefit from its success as a significant shareholder.

III.

There should be no factors explicitly prohibiting you from receiving a US visa. This includes no previous visa overstaying and having a clean criminal record.

Salary:

• $25/hour with the possibility of a significant increase within the first year and onwards (negotiable) + a significant number of shares in the company to provide the applicant with the incentive to help the company succeed & simplify the visa procedures + a relocation package
