JOB PURPOSE AND IMPACT

The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation, support, maintenance and continuous improvement of environmental, health and safety management systems at Cargill grain locations. This specialist will provide subject matter expertise in environmental area for several locations: Kakhovka crush plant, Lviv plant and Kyiv Office.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Health and Safety management:

• Develop, implement, maintain and improve an Environmental, Health and Safety management procedures and rules to ensure compliance with business unit objectives, customer requirements, corporate EHS standards and relevant legislation;
• Support sites’ personnel with the implementation of new programs and improvements of existing processes;
• Provide necessary help with investigations of the incidents, review and develop preventive and corrective actions;
• Track completion status of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for critical and major non-conformities identified.

2. Compliance management and reporting of Environmental performance:

• Prepare and support execution of Company Environmental audits, governmental Environmental inspections, customer Environmental visits;
• Communication and negotiation with environmental authorities related to environmental impact assessments, permitting for air emissions, waste water discharges and wastes disposal, governmental site inspections;
• Perform energy, emission, water, wastes and other Company environmental reporting requirements;
• Perform all required environmental reporting to local authorities;
• Perform environmental tax calculations;
• Documents management for air pollution control equipment, knowledge and understanding of plants/silos technologies and air pollution control equipment;
• Sites environmental budget preparation and tracking.

3. Environmental control programs and processes for Environmental risks & risk management:

• Define, agree and manage the locations Environmental plan which is based on the regional and global Environmental plan and reflects specific business, country and local needs;
• Implement and manage processes for Environmental risks identification and risk management;
• Air emissions, waste, water program management.

4. Investigation of incidents and nonconformities.

5. Environmental competencies, training & development.

6. Contractor environmental management.

7. EHS team management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environment, Health & Safety and/or high technical education.
• 3+ years of related work experience.
• Deep knowledge of Ukrainian environmental and EHS legislation.
• English: professional practice (written and oral).
• Good communication skills, strong leadership capabilities and experience in building effective teams and partnerships across various functions/professions.
• Proficiency in risk recognition, risk assessment, training, incident investigation.
