Education: Diploma in professional (technical) degree

Specialty: Mining Engineer

Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in occupational health and safety positions.

Reports to: Head of Technical Department (direct)

Project Manager (indirect)

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop Occupational Health and Safety project discipline based on the latest scientific-and-technical achievements, best local and international practices in CAD-based project engineering, construction and operation.
• Participate in preparing terms of reference for development of design concept.
• Take part in acquisition of design data, resolution of engineering issues on the assigned project areas during the overall period of project engineering, construction, commissioning and asset development.
• Align design solutions with those from other project disciplines.
• Ensure that the project development and engineering documentation comply with standards, specifications and other regulatory documents applicable to engineering and construction, as well as with terms of reference.
• Advise company employees on the issues within his competence.
• Participate in reviewing and summarizing the project development and execution experience and based on this information prepare justification for practicability of any adjustments to general and basic design concepts.
• Perform related duties.
• Resolve independently issues on planning daily activities.

Knowledge of the following is a must:

• Legislative and other statutory regulations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, guidelines and manuals applicable to occupational health and safety, decrees, orders and instructions of local authorities, guidance and other instructive materials on occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene and fire safety;
• Basic company-specific product manufacturing processes;
• Methods for work environment analysis;
• HSE, industrial hygiene and fire safety management;
• Occupational safety standards system;
• Psychophysiological requirements to employees, depending on work severity;
• Specifics of equipment operation as required by safe work practices;
• Procedures and means of control to ensure that the equipment performance is adequate to safe work requirements;
• Best domestic and foreign practices in occupational health and safety;
• Principles of economics, scientific labor organization, production engineering and administration management;
• Methods and techniques for value engineering and design;
• Methods of operation, production practice and installation of equipment or structures, material types and processing properties;
• Decrees, orders, instructions, guidelines, regulatory instruments and materials related to engineering, construction and operation of buildings and facilities;
• GOST, SNiP and standards, technical requirements and other guiding materials applicable to project estimate documentation process;
• Economical, ecological, technical and social requirements for buildings and facilities designed;
• Laws and regulatory documents applicable to industrial and fire safety in the Republic of Kazakhstan;
• Technical regulation approach to fire safety;
• Company internal code of conduct.

  Rights:

• Familiarize himself with the Company Management draft resolutions pertaining to his activity.
• Make suggestions on performance improvement for the Management review with regard to responsibilities stipulated herein.
• Inform a line manager within the limits of competence of any shortcomings revealed in the course of his activity and propose remedial actions.
• Request personally or on behalf of company managers any information or documents required for proper
• fulfillment of his job from the company business units and specialists.
• Involve specialists of all (particular) business units for assistance in resolving the assigned tasks.
