Health and Safety Manager

Duties:

• Develop country level h&S Strategic plans, policies, standards, procedures with further advise and support of sites/plants in it’s implementation;
• Develop metrics to monitor sustainability over implemented systems;
• Advice country and line management regarding all kind of H&S issues (e.g. compliance, statistics, results of risk assessments, root cause analysis, audits, new equipment, dangerous materials) to ensure continuous improvement processes
• Assist and support site / plant H&S managers
• Lead, develop and motivate country H&S team as direct superior/ dotted line manager
• Liaise with Group Senior H&S adviser/ represent country in HC H&S network
• Liaise with regulatory H&S authorities
• Represent company in external safety organizations (e.g. associations)
• Coordinate and support proper implementation of Area / Group initiatives
• Facilitate development and maintenance of H&S management systems, safe work procedures, etc.
• Develop, coordinate, maintain and measure H&S programs and awareness campaigns
• Oversee, develop, conduct and coordinate health and safety related trainings;
• Support in development of company needs for annual H&S training program
• Oversee, conduct and coordinate health monitoring as required
• Take part in country H&S committees and , when necessary, in plant H&S committees
• Check compliance with appropriate legislation, policies, standards (in- and external ones), instructions, procedures and address to Country and Plant management
• Assess implications of new/ revised H&S legislation etc.
• Develop and maintain reporting and recordkeeping procedures regarding H&S according to internal and external requirements
• Collect, analyze and communicate safety statistics and reports
• Benchmark industry and company best practices
• Organize and conduct risk assessments (e.g. technical places, used chemicals)
• Perform accidents/ incidents root cause analysis and coordinate development of corrective and preventive measures and follow-up o it’s closure;
• Organize and participate in H&S audit program/ plant safety inspections

• Actively communicate and share H&S issues throughout the company by various means

Requirements:

• Degree / Diploma, preferably in H&S or in engineering
• Master’s degree or acknowledged certificates in occupational safety (e.g. NEBOSH) would be an advantage.
• Minimum 5 years professional experience in the field of H&S in a productive industry.
• Minimum 3 years of experience managing teams;
• Experiences within the building material industry would be an advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to work with all levels in the organization

• Excellent communications skills, both oral and written, as well as presentation and facilitation skills
• Ability to lead and influence individuals
• Organizational skills and self-management
• Comprehension of political interrelations
• Know-how and application of modern media and information technology
• Good English language skills
• Willingness to travel
• Knowledge of MS Office applications (MS word, Excel, Powerpoint)
