Reporting to the Local/Hub Division Manager, you will be responsible for providing routine maintenance and on-site or remote technical support.

Main responsibilities will include: ability to fulfill high expectations and execute demanding checks and tasks in different areas, within limited time, without risking the scheduled shut-down period or the quality of services to the end-customers for the Gearless Mill Drive System.

Own area of responsibility: to execute all required tasks for installation, commissioning and maintenance of the ABB GMD System.

Your responsibilities:

  • Ensure the Service portfolio is delivered effectively according to ABB standard processes and safety guidelines to satisfy customers. Execute technical support and act as specialist in own area of expertise. In collaboration with the customer and ABB units/sales teams ensures customer needs are understood and business opportunities utilized for Service growth.
  • Provides technical support by identifying technical problems and determining corrective actions in own area of expertise via remote or on-site service in any Service category (installation and commissioning; maintenance; repairs; engineering and consulting; advanced services; extensions, upgrades and retrofits; end of life services, replacements, etc.).
  • Focuses on one ABB approach in delivering Service.
  • Investigates customer needs through professional consulting. Provides technical consulting and specialist assistance on Service solutions to management and customers by giving relevant inputs on customer requirements and proposed service products/solutions.
  • Determines effective Service applications, equipment and methods to develop, market or manufacture new Service offerings to respond to customer requirements cost effectively.
  • Manages customer relationships and maintains regular contacts with key customers. Identifies new sales opportunities, proactively communicating both with the customer and ABB sales teams to ensure customer needs are met and business opportunities utilized for Service growth. Conducts specialist support and advisory service for Sales team. Ensures accurate communication and exchange of technical information to the customers to address their needs and reports and follows up customer feedback to achieve high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinates and performs specialist Service projects in relevant areas internally and externally (e.g. milestones, project plan, cost supervision, action steps, project reviews, project supervision) including all commercials.
  • Prepares all required technical documents and reports for project contracts to be signed by the customer representative. Reports work done in a timely manner and provides relevant technical supporting documents to the service execution teams and follows up when needed.
  • Participates in maintenance meetings and improvement activities to proactively provide suggestions for product and quality improvement and shares with ABB organization/management.
  • Provides technical specialist support and coordination for the Service team. Plans activities, coordinates the work of internal and external technicians and assigns them specific tasks related to Service needs. Supervises project teams and contractors at work site and monitors performance.
  • Applies safety rules and safe practices as well as environmental responsibilities. Reports unsafe practices and incidents.

Your Background:

  • Academic knowledge and job experience (evidence should be provided e.g. CV, certificates etc):
  • a. Electrical or Electronic Engineer degree
  • b. An engineering degree in “Mechatronics” might be accepted too
  • c. At least 2 year of job experience in MV-drive systems and power electronics
  • Basic knowledge of the process automation technologies in the heavy industries (mining, metals, pulp and paper, power generation), mining is preferred
  • Must have: Fluent oral and written English covering good technical vocabulary and concepts
  • Interest in new challenges and willingness to learn new technologies and implement improvements as well contribute as team player with seriousness and responsibility and good attitude
  • Ability to handle multiple and different tasks and activities without risking the quality of the results
  • Ability to have a cold head under huge pressure with the communication skills to clearly express the need for help and assistance when required
  • Attendance in local safety trainings working with MV (medium voltage), proofed skills of safety rules
  • Readiness for often and/or long business trips (standard cycle: 2-3 months on site, 2 weeks at home; or often short trips for services, e.g. every 2-3 weeks in a month; extended cycle: up to 6 months on site, 4 weeks at home)
  • Readiness for up to 6-12 months trial period (position will require outboard long-term training with final examination “Field Service Certification Program for GMD System”).
