Responsibilities:

? Develop and implement a library policy and practices that reflects the educational aims and objectives of the school (IB philosophy);

Embody the school’s Values, Mission and Philosophy and Objectives;

? Provide leadership in embedding of ICT and effective and consistent research practices across the curriculum;

? Actively participate in professional development activities and work alongside staff to support and promote the effective use of the library;

? Promote the library and its resources both within the library and the whole school and its community;

? Promote the library as a focal point for students, staff and parents. Develop community connections;

? Implementation and support of academic honesty across all year levels;

? promotion of mother tongue through resources;

? The library environment is effective, utilized by all members of our community;

? Assist with the behaviour management of students;

? Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills;

? Inspire a love of literacy;

? Manage the library, its procedures and infrastructure;

? Plan and implement the modernization of library resources;

? Select, acquire, organize and maintain library resources;

? To arrange the effective retrieval by systematic indexing, classification and cataloguing of all library resources and sharing this information where appropriate with staff and students;

? Plan and oversee a programme for monitoring and evaluating library services and performance;

? Plan collaboratively and deliver an information skills programme throughout the school;

? Liaise with teachers and Coordinators regarding their requirements and recommendations for the Programme;

Requirements:

? Pedagogical Degree;

? Experience of working with children;

? Excellent knowledge of books for students and ability to promote and foster literacy and reading;

? Fluent written and spoken English;

? Excellent organisational and time management skills; lifelong learning skills;

? Adaptable and flexible to the requirements of the school;
